AHC: Bertrand Russell more successful in opposing WWI.

Bertrand was a sincere, goodhearted, and very talented individual. How could he have been more successful?

And the baseline is that pacifists (even partial pacifists, 'contingent pacifists,' etc.) in whatever country with whatever war are just not that successful. I think this is quite a AHC.

I think it was in his Autobiography in which Bertrand talked about feeling very despondent one Christmas during the war.

One of his fellow peace people got him involved in visiting elderly impoverished German residents. I think he may have also delivered care packages.

So, maybe more of these Jimmy Carter-type, direct hands-on type of activities. Then people may have had a harder time dismissing pacifists as just a bunch of idealists and preachers.
