AHC: Bavarian-Portuguese Union

Challenge: Have Bavaria and Portugal get into a personal union.

It depends on what state are its relations with the UK, as Portugal and the UK have the world's oldest alliance dating back to the 14th century. If this is during a period where Bavaria and the other South German states are weary of Prussian expansion during the post-Napoleonic Concert of Europe, then it might very well be in Bavaria's best interest to enter into a personal union with Portugal. Then the United Kingdom might have a valuable ally as a counterweight to Prussia.

would it? Bavaria is landlocked and Portugal is slow to develop and Portugal-Bavria would be smaller than Prussia, less than half the population today.
Plus Portugal and Britain weren't really alliances, Britain broke that alliance quite a bit.

EDIT

Also, i think if Portugal could inherit Bavaria in the 14-early 1500s we could see an interesting counterweight to Habsburg dominance.
Wittelsbach-wank?

A Better Wittelsbach wank would be to have the Electoral Prince, Joseph Ferdinand, survive and inherit Spain. That would potentially put Bavaria in a personal Union with Spain.
