AHC: Baltic somebody's Mare Nostrum

I'm not buying Russia as a contender, direct Russian rule over Sweden or northern Germany was never in the cards. Poland was never naval or Baltic focused enough to make it work. Germany, Sweden, or some sort of united Scandinavia are the only realistic options.

not seeing Germany (other than an ASB'ish succesful WW2 or hyperaggessive Prussians) as a contender either.

Two horse race between Sweden and Denmark ... the earlier the more likely its Denmark that pulls it off

(Kalmar Union in my book is Denmark, since Denmark had most of the political and military power doing the union.)
