AHC: Avoid the Lebanese Civil War

At the moment, I'm trying to do research for a timeline I'm planning to write about Lebanon. The main idea behind it is that the Lebanese Civil War is averted and Lebanon becomes a much richer and more stable country. The only question now is - how do I avoid the Civil War? Since I'm unable to go to the library ATM, I figured I'd try asking my AH.com-ers.

One of the major issues is the Confessionalist system of government that the French helped set up, giving Christians the Presidency, control of the military, and most seats in the legislature, Sunnis get PM and less, and Shia the Speaker.

The problem with the National Pact was that by the time of the Civil War demographics had shifted greatly, and people knew better. Christians emigrated and had lower birthrates than the Muslims, particularly the Shia community had explosive growth, and they had disproportionate political power. Of course, they didn't want to give up such power, and there's a reason why there hasn't been an official census since 1932.
