AHC: Australia is not colonized and stays a giant nature preserve

Too much gold, too much farmland, and too close to Indonesia. There's also too many reasons to establish at least naval bases at Perth or Darwin during the 18th and 19th centuries (particularly once coal stations are needed) and it wont take long for someone to decide the southern part of the island is worth settling.
 
After the mid 19th century some groups will start settling there. It could be private filibusterers, religious sects or government sponsored.
