Discrimination may be a heavy word to associate with Chronocentric thinking. It tends to be used when one party declares “hipster seniority” over a band/ tv show that some late comer has just discovered.
Like any nationality or religion, generations are just groups of people crowded under an umbrella. The only difference being that the umbrella is a manufactured one. The Greatest Generation, Baby-Boomers, the MTV Generation, Millenials. Each one defined by their societal and cultural contributions, good and bad alike.
When the good old days start getting rotten, that’s when the accusations start. So, what POD would be needed to have a Chronocentrism fueled social prejudice?
Yes, ageism is already a manifestation of this. My frame of reference is more akin to how some will fault Boomers for lenient law enforcement and political correctness. How would anyone go about marginalizing someone from a hated decade? Would it be by birth date or the era they were alive in?
As you can tell from the title, ASBs are welcome. This wouldn’t be much of a “serious” concern unless there was some exposure to peoples of long past eras. Perhaps by way of commercialized time travel or the discovery of eternal youth?
Imagine if scientists were able to transport a serf from 11th century England to the present day. Given the major differences in culture, language, and- not to mention- hygiene, would we be inclined to view that person differently than "civilized" humans? Would human rights activists scorn any attempt to educate that person in 21st century customs? Let's not leave out the serf who may react to their predicament with sitcom levels of curiosity or stark raving madness.
