AHC: Anglo-Spanish Union

I know the themes of an Anglo-French and Anglo-Dutch union have been fully explored on these boards for the most part, as well as the aftermath of both longterm. Be that as it may, a search of the forums doesn't yield any significant results (let alone, a coherent timeline) for one with Spain. So, with the earliest POD being 1500, is the establishment of a personal union between Spain (or at least, whatever unifies to become Spain at that point) and England possible? Moreover, a long-lasting one? The union can be dominated by either power, or can have both rest on equal footing. Obviously, the sooner into the 16th century you are able to have it happen would be more interesting, particularly after the creation of the Anglican Church and the reign of Henry VIII. I imagine that soon after the 16th century, such an idea becomes near impossible to achieve. My only caveat is that using a successful Spanish Armada is too easy.

In any case, I suppose the answer is open to peaceful succession and open conflict. If you can make such a union last at least 2 generations, (if not, longer - even permanently) kudos to you. The basic premise is the heart of my question, however. Go!

Perhaps Charles V leads a Catholic crusade against Henry VIII and becomes King of England, not sure if this is plausible...

The obvious one is Mary I and Philip II manage to produce offspring and Don Carlos dies on schedual, leaving them with one son to inherit both kingdoms. Long term it only works if the English are pacified and Protestantism is stamped out there, or the French are threatening enough to make the English see the Spanish as the lesser of two evils and want to stick with them.
