With a POD of 1815 (the Congress of Vienna), have it so that the vast majority of people globally consider religion an important part of daily life. Most crucially, make religion still a predominant factor in every day life in the west (Europe, the Americas and Australasia).
You must:
You should try to:
You could (for bonus points):
As for the WI side, how would our world be if religion was considerably more important? What would daily life be like, and what would the politics of the world be like?
You must:
- Have less than 5% of the world population being irreligious
- Have religion and politics closely tied in the majority (75%+) countries, including the European powers and the USA
- Have Christianity as the largest religion, with Islam as second (as in OTL)
- Have major political movements in Christian countries for the revival of Christian theocracy
- Have the majority of people in Christian countries attended church at least once a week
You should try to:
- Have the world be politically less advanced and more conservative
- Have worse relations between countries of different faiths, and better ones between those of the same faith (perhaps a Catholic League, for example?)
You could (for bonus points):
- Still have a Jewish state come into existence somewhere in the world (you can choose where, as long as it is plausible)
- Have atheism be considered abnormal and frowned upon in the west (more so than it is in OTL)
