AHC and WI: Ditko stays w Marvel longer?

I'm wondering, if Ditko stayed with Marvel for, say, three to four more years, would he be the primary artist on just the Spiderman and Strange story lines, or would he get more projects? (FWIG, he drew the Hulk October 1964 to June 1965; maybe he gets a shot at doing Iron Man storylines?)

Jim Shooter on his blog remarked that Ditko returned to Marvel wanting work during his tenure, but did not want anything to do with any character with flaws whatsoever. If they had flaws, they were not heroes, in his opinion. Spider-Man was alright because he was a kid when Ditko worked on the book, kids could make mistakes.

I personally find the square-jaw flawless Hero rather boring. It really was a throwback to the 50s and earlier type hero. Marvels success was due to abandoning this character type. And mixing with the 60s and 70s alternative movement.

I think Ditkos direction would have made Marve just one more wannabe in a crowded field, and without DCs name reconition.
