AHC: Americans sing songs in restaurants the night of Dec. 23rd?

And perhaps not every restaurant participates, but it's considered unusual for those that don't.

Okay, so how is this tradition initiated and continued all the way till the present day?

Free liquor on the 23rd, say Prohibition ends on the 23rd, drunk men and women celebrate on the 23rd, and it goes on through history, at least in the USA, as the night of the drunken chorus :3

Have Festivus become a mass mainstream movement, like the push to make Jedi a religion. It'll be immensely tongue-in-cheek, but the seasonal tests of strength will be good if not just for driving off carollers.

I'm just having a little fun thinking of what other Christmas traditions we might have.

What I had in mind was people singing just three carols starting at 7:30 pm, some people just happening to be at a restaurant, other people planning to be at a particular restaurant.

But I'm kind of liking the counter-cultural competition of other people impishly doing drinking songs!
