As late as 2002, gas prices here in Richmond, VA was 1 dollar per gallon. Now, I hear talk of 5 dollars per gallon outliers by the summer. My challenges are thus:
Create a scenario in which the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is 1 dollar per gallon in 2012.
AND
Create a scenario in which the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded is a minimum of 5 dollars per gallon in 2012.
Make it so that each scenario is viewed as "normal" by the general public. "Of course gasoline is $1.00 per gallon, we're all using public transportation and demand is low." "Of course gasoline is $5.00 per gallon, we're at war with Iran!"
