AHC: Alternate US Civil War

Instead of the north-south conflict we all know and love, get an American civil war going that pits the eastern part of the country against the western. POD can be any date after the Declaration of Independence.

hard to do.

Slavery totally dominated the politics of 1814-1865. And the 'west' was constantly moving westward. The Infamous 'Go West, young man!' exhortation was a suggestion to move from Brooklyn to Buffalo, hardly what we'd call 'west' even by 1860.

Population wise its an even bigger imbalance between east and west than the OTL Civil War's imbalance. After 300+ years of western migration and 60+ years of sunbelt movement, the major weight of population is still east of the mississippi river, and it wa very, very unbalanced in the 19th century.
