AHC: ACW is delayed/Abraham Lincoln is "Pro-Confederate"

Again we might be stumbling into ASB ground here, but I want to explore this and its effect on the American Civil War. Abraham Lincoln, a Kentuckian by birth, was born in a state with at least some form of Confederate sympathy in OTL. What would cause Abraham Lincoln to share that sympathy? Of course this would start very early in his life when he was a young attorney and it would have to be a situation where he has a JUSTIFIABLE distaste for the platform of the Whig Party and the American System. This distaste would run deep enough to either cause him to simply be a country lawyer with no formal political connection or possibly even a Democrat that would run in Kentucky rather than Illinois. He may never become president in the first place. How would this affect the date, time, occasion, or circumstances under which the American Civil War begins? If there was a war, when would it begin? Are the butterflies just too numerous here to effectively answer these kinds of questions?

Lincoln's aversion to slavery was so deep seated from such an early age that I don't see any way for him to ever be pro-Confederate. Having him die of disease before he has any influence is credible. Having him fight the duel and kill or seriously delay his political is credible. Having Lincoln be pro-slavery is not.
