It can come in any flavor of Mongol you wish, Khalkha, Dzungar, whatever.
 
The Ming abandoned Beijing after the Tumu Crisis.

And Esen went on to occupy north China.

And hopefully this dynasty would fall early, and a Han Chinese dynasty wiould be the place of the OTL Qing when the Westerners began to probe into China.

Could the Dzungars have had a shot of taking over China in the 17th, 18th or 19th century? Maybe from the Qing, a surviving or restored Ming or a Li Zicheng (Shun) or Wu Sangui (Zhou) established dynasty.

Given that the unfortunate turn of event only result in the court crowning the captured emperor's brother, I'd say it requires a lot more than that to scare the Ming court.
