The majority of the Canadian population in situated in relative proximity to the US border how could we have gotten a scenario with a higher concentration of population throughout Canada's northern areas?
I know the obvious assumption some will have is that those areas are uninhabitable, not entirely it's more like a lot of those are just not considered ideal but a lot would be technically habitable.
A region as far north as Fort McMurray is a relative booming city now due to the oil industry so if there is a draw people will go.
