AHC: A Modern Monarch Descend from Franz II Rákóczi

The hero of the Hungarian uprising against the Habsburgs at the dawn of the 18th century, once considered for the throne of Poland, and who died in exile in Turkey, married a cousin of the Empress Eleonore Magdalene, Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Wanfried and had four children (three sons and a daughter, of whom only two sons survived infancy).

Charlotte Amalie was said to be beautiful, a contemporary account of her describes her as "looking as the queen of the May". However, Franz's surviving sons (József b.1700; and György b.1701) don't seem to have featured prominently in their father's life. György reportedly joined Franz II in exile in Turkey, while József only left his comfortable in existence in Vienna in 1734, after his dad created him duke of Munkács, then travelled around Paris, Rome and Naples before making his way to Rodosto, in Turkey, after Franz II had died.

György married twice (according to Mr. Miroslav Marek's genealogies), the first to a Bethune relative of the Dowager Queen of Poland (Marie Louise Casimire de la Grange d'Arquien),and then to one Marguerite Susanne Pinthereau de Bois I’Isle, but his only son (unspecified as to which marriage he issued from) died in infancy. József never married, but fathered an illegitimate daughter, Maria Elisabeth (who became a nun under the name of Sister Josephine Charlotte), who died in 1786.

The challenge is to somehow get Rákóczi's bloodline to survive beyond the 18th century. (And no, the Chevalier de St. Germaine - rumoured to be the son of Rákóczi and the Dowager Grand Princess of Tuscany, Violante of Bavaria - doesn't count). I'd like to see what you people can come up with.

Well if Sigismund brother of George I survives marriage with Henrietta Marie of Palatinate their line will succeed to the thrones of Great Britain & Ireland. That will alter the circumstances of the uprising and Francis's line might end up as just British nobility.

While a nice idea (and one that would produce so many butterflies that TTL Franz might not even lead an uprising, or not see the reason to worry about Hungary), I'm aiming for Franz II Rákóczi specifically...

I was thinking if he is in Britain then any kids could marry into the royal Rakozci line.
Then you get a British Monarch descended from Franz.
But as you say butterflies. Since a Rakoczi connection means a different or no alliance with Austria.

Alternate route would be to change his marriage.

Any suggestions for who he should marry? I think he got a reasonably high-flying wife what with his dad being an executed traitor and mom married to the guy (Imre Thokoly) who's rebelling against the emperor and all.

An alternative might be to have him accept Pyotr the Great's offer to become king of Poland (could result in interesting changes to Poland, although I have a feeling he'd be as popular a Polish king as Stanislas Leczszynski was - the bayonets propping him up just being Russian instead of Swedish). What do you think @Jan Olbracht and @Polish Eagle) and get his sons decent marriages that way. But I'm not sure.

Considering fact, that armies of Franz' grandfather, György Rákóczi, ravaged Poland during the Deluge, Rákóczi King of Poland wouldn't be more popular than Leszczyński.

If memory serves the Tsar offered to make Rakoczi King of Poland. Considering the Tsar at the Time was Peter the Great, after his defeat of Sweden and parts of Poland - he could just sneeze and there would be a new King of Poland. Okay, now that he is on the Polish Throne, we just have to marry off his children to powerful Polish / Russian families.

To be fair, Carl X was also involved in the Deluge, but they still offered the Polish crown to his grandson, Carl XII apparently. But I see your point.

Jakub Sobieski's daughters, perhaps? His younger son married a Bethune cousin of the Sobieskis OTL, so I could see him getting one step up and marrying an actual princess here. But whether Franz II as king of Poland has more staying power than Stanczyk IDK.
