As we all know, the House of Lords used to play a much larger role in the British Parliament than it does now, and produced a fair amount of Prime Ministers. Lord North, Lord Melbourne, Lord Wellington, Lord Grey, Lord Russell, just to name a few. Then the titanic rule of Lord Salisbury came to an end, and within a decade, Asquith and Lloyd George had gotten rid off the Lords' veto, and they've never again produced a prime minister. Sure, George VI wanted Lord Halifax to succeed Chamberlain, but the later cautioned against it, since his seat lacked a democratic mandate, and even though it is true that Lord Home did come from the House of Lords, he felt it necessary to renounce the title and run for Kinross and Western Perthshire's seat in the Commons (which he of course won).

But let's move back a century or two and look at a Britain with a strong upper chamber and where antidisestablishmentarianism still ruled firmly: Why was never a Lord Spiritual made Prime Minister? Many of them certainly had political ambitions.

So, here's the challenge: Make a Lord Spiritual Prime Minister of either Great Britain or the United Kingdom.

Let the efforts commence!
