AHC: A Greek Empire during the 19th Century

Have a Greek Empire after its independence. (Around 1850s to 1900s)
Short of the Ottomans disintegrating completely. (maybe the Tanzimat period goes orders of magnitude worse instead of improving conditions), no chance. You could hellenize the Ottomans or put the Phanariots in charge, but I doubt you are shooting for that.

Yeah your best chance is the Russians invading the OE during the Greek War of Independence and making a larger Greece. This would probably end up with a Russian king in place and Greece being Russia's friend not Britain's. That could lead to a completely different Crimean War as well.

Have Muhammed Ali secure independence the Ottoman Empire along with Russian intervention creating a much larger Greece. And then have the Ottomans balkanize enough for Greece to take territories from them.

The era of Catherine the Great may be a place to look for a POD too - wasn't see raising her son Constantine to be the ruler of a revived Byzantine Empire after all?

Could the Greek king just call himself emperor and his realm the Greek Empire? Then have foreign recognition of the name change? I mean you have the Ethiopian Empire, the First Mexican Empire, the Korean Empire in 1897, and later on, the Central African Empire under Bokassa.
