AHC : a 19th century metropolis of more than 100.000 based on Haudenosaunee society and culture

A question that's both very niche and very vague (and probably a tad ASB).

There are clear examples of large and structured cities stemming from native cultures in Latin and South America (Tenochtitlan....), but in North America, beyond Cahokia and the Mississippi cultures of pre-colombian times (or pre-de Soto times...), there is less evidence of large and complex settlements.

So if we could have a population large enough in the Haudenosaunee (aka Iroquois) league to lead to the growth of one of their cities to over a 100.000 inhabitants, what would it look like?

1. How would the elaborate urban environment reflect the social and cultural specificities of iroquois culture?
2. How would it possibly accomodate elements of western urban technologies of the 19th centuries such as industries and steam engine transportation (and even electricity if we push it a little)?

The primary difference between the Iroquois and the Aztecs was that the former depended on hunting/gathering, while the latter possessed an agrarian economy. In order to reach the development you envision, Iroquois culture would have to change so dramatically that it would be unrecognizable from the Iroquois of OTL. Indeed, Iroquois culture was already changing quite substantially from its contacts with Britain & France.

When is the POD? And what are the goals?

Do you want this city to be present before European contact with the America’s? Because I would say that’s almost impossible.

After European contact we need a much different relation between the colonizers and the Natives, but I am faithful there is a way to create a lasting Eastern Native American state.

I thought the Iroquois farmed the three sisters before contact?
