AHC: 50% of the Islamic world Shia

With a POD of 632, have 40-60% of the Islamic population be Shia Muslims.

Bonus points if:

  • you have two zones of influence - Baghdad/Egypt and somewhere in Central Asia/Iran - as the centres of Sunni and Shia
  • Shia is concentrated in Iran, Afghanistan and the Turkic countries, and Sunni in the Arab countries

Easy, Timur or Babur become Shi'ite, so Shi'ite Mughal empire and succeeding Islamic states.
this means the Muslims of what would be Pakistan and Bnagladesh would be Shi'ite, and would also increase Shi'ite population in Indonesia, Afghnanistan and India. I'm thinking if majority of Muslims in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were Shi'ite, they along with Iran, Bahrain and other Shi'ite majority countries would add up to around 50% of the Islamic populations.

The Dakhni Sultanates in India retain more power and influence; if the Bahmanids manage to last and expand their power over the Indian subcontinent, Shi'a Islam will gain a big boost.
