AH/WI: Civil War Post-poned, Breaks Out in 1880-90s

Is there any way for the Civil War to be postponed 20 or if you are feeling crazy 30 years? Will it be over the same issues? Who will be the leaders?

Also, how will this war be different? Technology will definitely play a huge role, probably making the war even bloodier.

What do y'all think?

The fact that the war was delayed up to 1860 was pretty incredible. Perhaps if the Republicans don't win the White House in 1860 then the war could be averted for a few years.

However, with a PoD in the 1840s or 1830s, the war could have probably been delayed to the late 1860s and early 1870s.

I'm not sure that there is much of an effect, it give the South more time to put in railways but it gives more for the North to industrialize. Semi-automatic firearms will become more commonplace but will it have an effect on the war? Medicine might be more advanced as germ theory and sterile technique become more commonplace and this might see more soldiers survive, but otherwise I'm not sure that the overall course of the war will change that much. Mexico will have a stronger French contingency while the Franco-German war might coincide and lead to a global series of simultaneous conflicts from say 1868 - 1871.

Everyone forgets that the reason the ACW occurred when it did isn't just due to Lincoln's election; the Republicans had gained control of the House, and had gained the most seats in the Senate in the 1858 congressional elections. Even without a republican in the white house, there's still a very high chance of secession unless you change the balance of power in the halls of government.
