AH Question/Challenge/WI: Lodge vs. Kennedy

In 1916, Henry Cabot Lodge beat John F. Fitzgerald for the US Senate seat from Massachusetts.

In 1952, HCL Jr was defeated by JFK Jr for the same seat.

In 1962, George C. Lodge was defeated for the same seat by Ted Kennedy for the same seat.

What if HCL Jr. beat JFK in 1952 but more importantly is it possible for the Lodges to be a dynasty of notoriety that the Kennedys are today while the Kennedys are limited to local notoriety?

Bonus points if the Lodge family and the Bush family intermingle.

What makes you think the Kennedys would give up? If Jack doesn't get in then Bobby becomes the standard-bearer. He had been offered a safe House seat in Connecticut (the Skakels' home state) in 1952 and considered moving to either Nevada or New Mexico and setting up political shop there at different points in the 1950s. At that rate (Senate by 1962) he would still be a frontrunner for the 1968 nomination- this time getting there entirely on his own. So all 3 brothers would have to strike out, which is unlikely unless you wank the curse.
