That and as long as it's not a long time period. The site goes down a few hours, meh, no big deal.

The site goes down for a more extended period, like 2 or 3 days, that would be concerning.

I have a feeling quite a lot of the outages people have been experiencing have to do with some different reasons. I've had quite a few insanely crazy malware infections (like the kind of Trojan shithorse that rigs your computer to shoot EMPs, presumably picked up on an old Yahoo linked file some time ago) lately and I wouldn't be surprised if some y'all have it. So check your computers, as I am probably going to have to go fishing. FYI, that's probably part of the reason I have been so sporadic and insane with my posting. The other stuff was because of a few latent bio-infections, lotsa wildfires, a water table polluted with god knows what, as well as a few magpies that got big and strong and old eating pharmaceutical waste deciding to get in a scrap with a bear, mangey coyotes, a Mountain Lion and a bunch of huge feral cats involved (like about the size of a coyote but literally mutant stray cats, and yes they seemed to have coordinated with the Mountain Lion on some level) and a lot of noise pollution + more crazy stuff I have no idea about. Yeah, I had a crazy week.

Well this one only lasted slightly over an hour by my reckoning, so either the automatic reboot worked like it should or it happened at just the right time of day for Ian to spot it - either way, no biggie.

    Must've been extremely brief...

What's going on? Have we simply become too big? On the Old Board, we had ~50k messages after *years*, and nowadays, we have that much traffic in a week, max.

I think it's more to do with the physical hardware from what Ian said.

Christ, that was one hell of a blackout. Perhaps Ian should take a look into the system to see if it needs repairing?

Bear in mind time differences. My guess is Ian was asleep or working for most of it and only just got time to fix it.

I was working on a post to my current WIP on the ASB when it went down for me, around midnight US - CDT. I guess it came back up within the last couple of hours.
Good thing I was pasting from a word doc. Didn't lose anything I was working on.

Yeah, I noticed it was out about 2:00 AM Eastern time. Given that I knew that Ian is in the same time zone and probably a lot more sane in his sleep schedule, I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t getting fixed until morning.

When? I didn't notice anything. Was probably quiet short one.

I was asleep for it :D I was told it lasted maybe twenty minutes.

So short and it was all fixed by the time I came back? I can live with that...
