AH: Map Challange

Your Challange is to make a POD and explanation for this map. This would be the world in 2010, Good luck.

U.S. takes more in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Yucatan Republic asks for admission, Cuba asks or is forced into admission, Philippines... forcibly kept? Denmark sells Greenland at some point, and Guyana asks for admission.

Quebec gets independence at whatever point they choose; the Maritimes come along for whatever reason.

Surviving Weimar Republic? And an India that doesn't totally self-capitulate after independence.

That's all I got. :p

As far as Canada goes I guess Acadia remains French until the Seven Years War as does Newfoundland and Labrador. Following the 1763 Treaty of Paris all are ceded to Britain. The new territories remain British during the ARW and War of 1812. With the US gaining additional Mexican territory the ACW is butterflied away along with Canadian Federation by the 20th Century English Canada and French Canada form two distinct seperate nations.

In my Idea it's a UK of Great Britan, Denmark, Belgium and Ireland.

So the striped colour doesn't indicate some sort of foreign control or division of power then? Ah right, fair enough. Surprised it has no colonies at all, but I guess that's part of the map challenge.

I might be able to come up with a POD later, though it might involve some serious straw-clutching. I'll see what others say first though.

I'm curious how Poland got all of those vassal states. I guess the POD is before the Partitions. Beyond that...no dice.

Im thinking Soviets try to go to war with Poland while in the Civil War and do incredibly worse than otl (or maybe one of the Russian sides cuts a deal with Poland), or Russia tryed to go to war with Poland after the Purges and utterly fails at the art of war.

Or a combination of those two.

I"m thinking that Poland and Lithuania reunited during the Russian Civil War (then proceeding to kick their asses). And that World War I ended on Christmas 1914.

Seeing that Africa and most of South America are identical to OTL, and the POD is pre-1900, umm.....

Yeah, you get the point.

This would require quite a few PODs, some of which would need to go back hundreds of years even. That probably then butterfly's away most of OTL's borders and post-colonial countries.

Long live the glorious, independent, neutral, national, and sovereign republic of the Chukchi people! All 50 thousand of them. Why, that's (almost) an eigth of the population of the smallish city I come from! ;)

I'm guessing Greece completely smashed the Ottoman successor state in Turkey at some point, and then started a program of... population reforms that made OTL's transfers look like a Sunday picnic in the park. And for some reason they annexed Serbia too.
