It seems that naziesque architecture interesd the good people of AH.com this times. Talking about Germania would be an occasion to remind ourselves that AH isn't just political or military history.
We have only 4 people who have given their Skype usernames.
Remember that if you don't give it, you wont be able to participe the podcast. And miss the opportunity of participate in a pioneer project, for the greater cause of Alternate History.
My connection is working again (both of them) so it should be OK. Did you say you wanted us to check in early before we start, Charl?
When is this? If I can, I would like to participate.
My ID is vienna_weazle (don't ask), and this is a sample of my sound recording:

The only problems it has are plosives as well as voiceless fricatives, because they tend to pop, respectively hiss.
And yes, I realise my accent isn't German
EDIT: Ignore that earlier edit, I'm clearly a moron.
This sounds extremely interesting and I'll definitely be following these podcasts. I do not think I'll ever contribute though, because as others have indicated, I am uncomfortable sharing my name, face, location, etc with the internet. I'm also really boring to talk to and rarely know what I'm talking about.
Do you have any ideas for future topics? Are you taking suggestions?
The technical aspects are as follows:
We will use Skype to talk. People who want to participate (just post on this thread if you do) should preferably record a short audio test and link here, so that we can hear if your sound system works.
We will have a designated recorder, who will record the whole thing to his hard drive. The same person will also be the editor, and will cut the talk as necessary. Backup recorders would be much appreciated. For this first podcast I've volunteered to be the recorder.
As for publishing we will use a free podcast host with RSS capabilities. The specific host is yet to be decided (suggestions are welcome), but research will be done to determine the best alternative.
I hope to see (or rather hear) you there!
Can I join - or it is too late? Note that I'm not going to participate much, going to sleep after at most a hour or two (hey, the whole thing starts at midnight in my timezone!), and even then probably not say anything due to being a complete newbie (though might offer some suggestions as for the Soviet front, and maybe quote some Russian AH authors on that; also, anything I do say would end up with an atrocious Russian accent, and for that matter my voice isn't really good even in original Russian).
Also, how to record a short audio test? I haven't really done it before, unfortunately
...So what, how?

Remember people will probably be dropping in and out as we go along.
I've set up Skype; how does it work, exactly, does Charl send calls out to people and we accept them?
I'll put you on reserve, I think. I think one of our participants isn't coming already so you should be in it today.
I think I'll set a limit at nine people for now. Seems like a good enough arbitrary number.
