AH.Com North American Baseball Championship 2012

Haiti definitely doesn't have the infrastructure to host the whole tournament, but if we are having various nations host individual games we would be honored to host a game in Louverture National Stadium. Although transportation around the island is lacking compared to some other countries in the tournament, Santo Domingue has a state of the art airport, so teams and spectators would have no problem getting there.

The team is practicing hard and the people of Haiti are very excited for the tournament.

In other news, it's great to see so many cool unique countries in this tournament. I was worried for a while that people had lost interest.

If we need more teams, I would be willing to make another, although I think it would be better if it was just 1 person/1 team. Looks like a good amount of OTL US is still available if anyones interested.

Here's the new map.

Puerto Rico seemed out of place, so perhaps a trade with Britain: Jamaica and the Cayman Islands for Puerto Rico, maybe?

Also, because nobody has claimed it, I divided the Lucayan archipelago between its three neighbors.

Maybe NPC's? And how long will series between teams be? 5 to 7 games like the MLB playoffs? Maybe 1 for the first round, 3 for the quarter finals, 5 for the semifinals, and 7 for the finals?

Also in regard to favorites, if all the best players from each nation play and this world is anything to OTL then the Hispaniolan Team will be the favorites because they have the best baseball country in the world, in the Dominican Republic.. Then the Central American team, then Mexico or CalifOrnia, and then the outer countries.

I wanted only spanish speaking countries except for Belize. It's how I calculated the population. Having control over the British islands wouldn't fit with the history of it unless we beat them in a war.

Well.... ya. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think of this when I picked my country. Although I suppose things would be different in this universe. My country is french-speaking and bears more superficial similarities to Haiti than the DR (i.e. the name) but it does have the same baseball obsession the OTL Dominicans have. That's not to say other countries couldn't be better than their OTL counterparts since they are totally different countries. So, although we're good, I certainly won't declare my country to be the best. After all, I haven't even seen these other guys play yet!

I do have an idea for a second nation, if necessary.

Personally, I'd say go for it. It seems like anything than can resuscitate this thread is a good thing.
