AH.com Flag Selection Contest

This flag uses the board's main colors and the butterfly symbol.
Very nice! I like the idea of using the board colors, but it does make it blend into the post unfortunately... (I recommend people open it in a new tab or window)

I like the last, though I feel the bottom half should be the same blue as the top for the reason Imajin said.

Anyways, OAM had me make this.

True. And you took that butterfly from Gilboa, didn't you?;)

Good after-noon! :)

DO NOT CONSIDER THIS AS AN ENTRY

Here are four slight variants of my design. An explanation of the symbolism:

The colour-scheme is derived from both the flag of the United-Nations and this web-site. In the flag of the U.N., blue and white represent the whole world be-cause blue is the colour of the sky seen from every-place, and white represents peace. For this, the blue could also represent the 'sea of time' or the 'river of time' or what-ever it's called.

The bars represent alternate-history in general, where one time-line is branching into multiple. The one that continues going horizontal could, I guess, represent 'O.T.L.', but I wasn't really intending this. It could also signify the nature of the inter-net which this web-site is based, where the bars are like connections and perhaps the circle is like a single 'node' of the net-work. I wasn't intending this symbolism either so it's probably just barely there.

The disc stands for many things:

1. The world, be-cause our forums include people from all over the planet.
2. A clock, be-cause of its symbolism of time, which links with history.
3. A compass (sorta stretching it here!), be-cause of its symbolism of exploration, which was a major driving force of world history.

The butter-fly stands for the butterfly-effect. Its location, at the fork of the bars/time-lines, shows how it's the force that's diverging them. If you choose to think of the disc as being the world, you could also think of the butterfly-disc combination as meaning that the butterfly-effect is sort of dominating the world, in a way.

I can provide an S.V.G. version and/or a construction sheet if required.

Very nice, but I don't like the colours all that much. You don't have to use the exact colours used on the board; any sort of blue will do.

Nice, but I don't like the UN colours. This is primarily because the UN colours are boring.
here's one, with some ASB pride.

Not bad, but those colours are rather overused on flags, and it makes AH.com look like a Slavic country. Also I think using that shield on the flag would be innapropriate when it's not part of our coat of arms (yes, AH.com has an official coat of arms before it has a flag.)

I really, really like the 3rd! :D

Here is my flag, black represeting the pre-1900 and post-1900 forums, white representing future history, blue from the colour scheme and a butterfly as a general symbol of AH.

Excellent flags!

We could use people like you. :)

Just to add in a square flag, for variety, here is an early draft from the flag continuation awhile back that I modified slightly (very slightly)

There was an informal thread on this a few months ago. I created something that was basically an MSPaint-ified clone of Transparent Blue's designs. But there may have been some good designs in there. I can't find the thread, though.

There are some fantastic designs here, though. Ashera's is my favorite so far.

It was bumped yesterday and the day before. Like I said in the OP, I'm aware of it, but if they want to be considered, they need to be posted here. Might want to PM the various authors there.

Oh gods, there are some horrible flags in there! The only decent one is the gold one with the hourglass, which is already reposted here.

This is not a submission.

Could somebody make a clean version of this, with the butterly not touching the edge of the shield, and with the shield centered?

First of many. The cross represents cross-time, the multiverse, and the intersection of PODs. The slightly off-white color of the cross, besides coming from the board, represents that no timeline is completely perfect/pure. The blue represents the oceans, in that our board membership is divided by many oceans and bodies of water, yet we remain united.
