AH Collaborative TL: Stan Lee's Plan B

Stan Lee, one of the co-creators of the "Marvel Comics Revolution" of the 1960s, actually had a lot of ideas for characters that we have all come to know and love (e.g. Spider Man, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, et. al). As such, with the following titles starting in 1961 until now (2011), can you help rewrite the Marvel Universe with completely different characters. The trick is that is to try to keep with period-style stories or characters:

1961:

Soldier Zero- Part-man, part-alien; Stewart Trautmann, an injured American soldier merges with an alien spacesuit, becoming "Soldier Zero", out to defend the helpless...

The Traveller- Traveling through time and space, the Traveller has the ability to manipulate time and space, seeking out to correct what once went wrong...

Starborn- Benjamin Warner, a young office worker, after long nights of dreams, comes to realize that he is the son of the emperor of a vast galactic empire, and that his girlfriend is actually his bodygurad, sent to protect him...

1962:

The Grim Ghost Revolutionary War highwayman/criminal Matthew Dunsinane is hanged by jury of his peers, he is resurrected in the 20th century by demonic powers in an effort to "harvest" evil-doers in return for his freedom...

The Phoenix An astronaut is transformed while in orbit through cosmic energies by aliens who have been observing humanity and its evolution, into a super-powered being with amazing powers...

The Scorpion In the 1930s, Adventurer Moro Frost battles against the forces of evil as "the Scorpion"....

The Tarantula During the Dark Ages, Count Eugene Lycosa is cursed by the Spider Princess of the Tarantula Cult, so that all of his male heirs will be transformed into a being that is half-man, half-spider...

Tiger-Man- While working in India, a young doctor is injected with an experimental serum transforming him into Tiger-Man, a being with the powers of the jungle cat....

Morlock 2001- In the year 2001, Professor Kroschell while working on botanical experiments, is transformed by the brutal totalitarian regime he lives under, into a being that is part-plant and part-human...

Planet of the Vampires- 6 astronauts are launched from Earth in 2010, returning to Earth after a 5-year mission in 2015, to find that Earth has been overrun by vampires

The Cougar- Hollywood stuntman Jeffrey Rand takes to fighting crime in Southern California as "the Cougar"

1982:

Fury Force- General Nick Fury is called upon to form America's first line of defense against the forces of HYDRA. At his side are Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, Breaker, Clutch, Rock & Roll, Flash, Grunt, Wild Bill, Ace and Doc...

Just to let people know, Fury Force was the original name Larry Hama gave for G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero before it was used to help sell the Hasbro toyline. Cobra was supposed to be HYDRA...

As such, please feel free to change the comic TL as needed....

Do you have a source available to go with this statement? It has similarities, but as I recall, nobody wanted to work with a toy-tie in, and Hama was desperate for writing work. Which is a good thing, since he did a great job with something that was essentially advertising for Hasbro. I also know he fought often enough with Hasbro every time they released a new toy. He'd just give them a cameo or two, and go right back to writing about the characters he wanted to write about.

Yes, I do, just look at:

Under the sub-section on "Origin", they make the connection back to Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.,...

Based on "Nerd Lunch"

1990:

Steeltown Rockers: Guitarist Johnny Degaestano and his friends struggle to form and maintain a band in a former steel mill town that had become economically depressed since the shuttering of the mill.

2011:

Marvel announced "the New 52." The following titles were massive hits:

Brotherhood: A new team of mutants bands together working for hire, solving problems the bigger mutant teams aren't willing to solve. (Think A-Team, but they're mutants.)

D.P. 7: DP 7 focuses on a group of seven paranormals on the run from a sinister medical facility created to deal with the blooming paranormal population.

Howlers: A small team of U.S. Soldiers is assigned the tasks that no one else can do. They are The Howlers.

Killraven: A present-day ancestor of Killraven foresees the apocalyptic future and begins making efforts to prevent it from happening.

Life Model Decoy: A Life Model Decoy (android) goes around posing as important people and saves their lives.

Marvel Tales: Book devoted to telling stories from the past. Focuses on genre stories like WWII war movies, giant monsters, westerns, etc.

Models, Inc.: Touring models travel the world and must solve mysteries together. Occasionally guest-stars Mary Jane Watson.

Monster Hunters: Relaunch of Monster Hunters concept. Youth-oriented, borrowing heavily from Buffy.

Nth Man: The Ultimate Ninja. Imagine a solo Snake Eyes book that featured a lead character who could talk. That's this book.

Psychonauts: After a horrible war, the Microverse lies in ruins. On the edge of total destruction, an unlikely hero in Psycho Man rises to unite a team who will prevent the end.

Sigil: “Cosmic” book featuring new character who has received the powerful Sigil and must keep peace in space.

Strikeforce: Morituri: A scientist begins research that grants regular humans super powers. The method shortens the lifespan of the human. Set in the modern-day paving the way for the program as it becomes in the original series.

Tales of Suspense: Anthology title that is essentially a team up book between a top-tier character and a lower tier character or someone who doesn't have their own title...

Ultimates: After the Avengers breaks off all dealings with the U.S. Government, a new team is formed to operate in its stead.

Wolfpack: South Bronx ninja street-gang, fighting guerrilla warfare against "the Nine."

Seems like Marvel would keep focusing on a more diverse range of genres instead of just superheroes under this lineup. That would likely lead to some changes in the industry and possibly in media in general.

In particular, I wonder what Mantra would do for the transgender movement.

1972-3

Nomad: disillusioned by his experiences in Vietnam and disgusted by his treatment back home, Matthew Monroe leaves the United States and travels the world. ubile in Argentina he encounters a hiding Nazi scientist who uses him as a guinea pig for his ubermensch formula. Gaining strength, reflexes, and endurance at the peak of human potential, Monroe returns to the US to fight injustice.

Yes, I know I'm using my first name. The Nomad in OTL Marvel comics is Jack Monroe. I wanted to keep the last name but use Stan Lee's penchant for alliterative character names.

Both of those are actual comic books.

So are the titles Bondoc posted, they were just released years later by Marvel and Atlas (different company). But they were set in totally different universes than their mainstream 616 books.

So they are. I'd never heard of them and seem to have gotten hold of the wrong end of the thread. My apologies.
