AH Challenge: Yet Another Early American Revolution

This thread is based on a New England Confederation POD.

1641: Colgate of New England(New England Confederation)is formed.

1654: Confederation occupied Acadia and Canada. Seeks neitrality with New Netherland against the wishes of the Commonwealth of England.

1664: Knowledge of England's plans to attack New Amsterdam reaches New England early. New England hatches plot purchase New Amserdam before the English squadron can arrive. Only giving Director-General Peter Stuyvesant enough warning to ensure that he realizes the hopelessness of resistence and that he would get a better deal from the New Englanders Stuyvesant agrees to sell New Amsterdam to the neighboring colonies.

The English squadron enters New Amsterdam's harbor. Seeing the King's standard flying above the fort it is not before long that the English Admiral is informed of the purchase. Admiral attempts to gain control of the city. But he is refused permission to enter.

1667: Treaty of Breda returns Acadia and Canada to France. Return of sovereignty delayed until 1670 when France agrees not to fortify settlements in New France. Netherlands recognizes purchase of New Netherland by New England.

1675-76: Virginia and Maryland are wracked by civil strife leading to Bacon's rebellion in Virginia and a similar rebellion in Maryland.

1676: King Philip's war erupts on New England frontier. New Netherland sends reinforcements to New England. Nathaniel Bacon captures Jamestown. Gov. Barclay flees to Virginia's eastern shore but is captured by expeditionary force sent to arrest him. Several armed merchantmen enter Chesapeake Bay unaware of the rebellion are quickly captured by rebels. rebel organize expedition against Bermuda. After word of rebellion reaches England a large expeditionary force is despatched to Virginia. Bermuda retaken word of expedition reaches Virginia.

1677: English expedition reaches ChesapeakeBay.A force of 2,000 soldiers lands on Virginia's eastern shore prepares for invasion of the mainland. Main campiagn has British forces facing guerilla warfare, however disease takes the largest toll. Half the English force is wiped out from disease alone. King Phillip's war ends with the death of King Phillip and destruction of Indian alliance. English force retreats from Virginia to Bermuda
