AH Challenge William Gray 1st Black President

William Gray who left the House in 1992, to go lead the United Negro College Fund, was the first African American to serve in the House Leadership. He was Majority Whip. He died today at the age of 71. So please find a way to get him to the White House.

Perhaps he stays in Congress, is tapped by Clinton to be his running mate in 1992 instead of Gore, and then runs for president in 2000?

He was Speaker in a presidential succession crisis in my Biden TL, Acting President. But the Clinton VP route seems likeliest.

Alright, what if Jerry Brown wins the nomination? Apparently he really wanted an African-American running mate should he have been nominated in 1992. After all, his biggest gaffe was telling a group of Jewish voters that he wanted Jesse Jackson for his VP.

So, avoid that gaffe, have Brown win the Wisconsin and New York primaries before going on to win the nomination. In private, his team convinces him that Jackson is just too toxic, so he taps Gray instead.

That could work I they have a chance of winning with the bad economy.
