AH Challenge:USSR Wins a Cold War Turned Hot

Found a video on Youtube about a 1979 documentary where the Soviet Union destroys the strategic forces of the US in a sudden pre-emptive strike....

It's called First Strike....

Red Dawn remake

I just read online that the remake of "Red Dawn" won't be an AH story set in the past, before the collapse of the USSR, but in our future. The Peoples' Republic of China will be the occupying power, this time.

Where online? If it's not an official site, you may want to be careful. But if it is, then I hope it'll show some sympathy to the Chinese, because otherwise it'll just turn into offensive propaganda, considering the US and the PRC aren't exactly at each other's throat these days.

I wish I could remember where I read it. But it's hard to understand what the cause of a US-China war might be. There's Taiwan, of course, but that would hardly bring Chinese troops to the US mainland. My own opinion is, war over Taiwan is pretty unliely, despite ocasional sabre-rattling by each side. Everyone involved has too much to lose.
A more likely outcome is an agreement, with Taiwan promising never to formally declare independence, and China renouncing forcible reunion of the island with the mainland. This will give each side some breathing room, allowing for demilitarization and closer economic and political ties, which is what most of the people on both sides really want.
