Well, Germany and Austria/Austria-Hungary are obvious contenders. The phrase of "Triple Brits success for" in modern parlance are somewhat shorn of military significance. I'd lean toward something like this:

1914: No assassination of FF
1920: Late accession of FF to throne of A-H
1930-50: A-H disintegrates slowly or comes apart peacefully
1940-1960: Formation of European Commerce Federation
1970-1980: End of British Empire (premature end forestalled by absence of both World Wars and Communism)
1980s: Britain edges toward unity with Europe, but is pretty, well, British about the whole thing.
1995: Following diplomatic efforts made by both Kaisers, the English parliament finally begins to authorise moves toward European integration. Hence the headline.

How do we define the term Brits?

Certainly avoiding or delaying World War I helps. One is reminded of House's trip across Europe in 1914...
