Challenge - find a way for Tito to retain Stalin's support and
membership in good standing within the COMINFORM until Stalin's
natural death in 1953.

Is this plausible?

Is there anything Tito could have done (or not done) to remain
acceptable to Stalin, without a complete personality transplant or 180
degree turnabout in major policy areas? Why so? Why not?

Poll below:

acceptable to Stalin?

A) Yes

B) No

The way Stalin kicked Tito out of the socialist block seems pretty sudden, but don't forget that a large number of Yugoslav communists wanted to side with Stalin and change the leadership. It is very possible that the Kremlin counted on them initiating a change of leadership in Yugoslavia. If Tito could have persuaded the Soviet leadership that he was too well entrenched in his rule, then they maybe wouldn't have taken that gambit.

By early 1948 the Soviet demands have gotten pretty ridiculous. Accepting NKVD cadres in your own security services and halting your own industrialisation to help the USSR was something few good leaders would have agreed to.

Stalin appeared to have learned from this when it came time for him to meet and negotiate with Mao. He told Mao he'd be glad to hand him a list of Chinese the NKVD had been working with.
