AH Challenge: The king fled to America!

In 2008 Brazil is celebrating the 200 years of the Portuguese court's arrival, a fact that changed completely Brazilian and Portuguese history. I've already read theories about how different Brazil would be if they had not come, or about the Spanish royal family doing the same and going to Mexico.

So, this challenge is a little bit different. With a POD after February 10 1763 make the French or the British royal family fleeing to their colonies in America in 1808!

1763 makes it difficult, although I once planned a TL which involves the British royal family fleeing to the American colonies after a joint Swedish-French invasion of Britain in 1759 (don't laugh, that was actually planned by Choiseul in OTL).

That would be nice to read!

Well, the British Royal family is really hard, but what about the French? Maybe the revolution happens differently, and the king is still alive in 1808. Then when the revolution becomes more radical he needs to flee, and somehow he goes to French Guiana.

Of all possessions that green hellhole?
Guadeloupe or Martinique are more likely, or before the 7 Years War the North American colonies, of course. After the Seven Years War Senegal might even be more likely than Martinique or Guadeloupe - or more likely, if they flee over the sea, Corsica (really, if they can be caught in Corsica, they can also be caught at any colony, so it makes little difference).

So, after the Seven Years War, France is rather difficult to do, too...

Yep, run out of colonies. I think Senegal is most likely of the ones you mention in any era after the loss of Quebec (and maybe even before).

But its no big jump from Europe to Senegal. As said, hence the French court might as well flee to Corsica. If they have naval superiority itsthe nearer an dmore developed choice, and if the enemy has it doesnt matter anyways...
