Is there any way that Spain could have fallen into another civil war after Franco's death in 1975, or could it even have devolved into autonomous governments (Castile-Leon, Andalusia, etc.)? Granted, I don't know a whole lot about Spanish history, but after a bit of research it seems to me like the transition to democracy wasn't all that easy.
What effects would this have on Europe and the world as a whole? I can see Portugal, the UK, and France getting edgy about the problems in Spain at least. Could we see a European or American intervention in Spanish affairs?
