AH Challenge: Spain Falls Apart in 1975

Is there any way that Spain could have fallen into another civil war after Franco's death in 1975, or could it even have devolved into autonomous governments (Castile-Leon, Andalusia, etc.)? Granted, I don't know a whole lot about Spanish history, but after a bit of research it seems to me like the transition to democracy wasn't all that easy.

What effects would this have on Europe and the world as a whole? I can see Portugal, the UK, and France getting edgy about the problems in Spain at least. Could we see a European or American intervention in Spanish affairs?

With a post-1960 PoD, the easiest way is to make Admiral Carrero Blanco survive the bomb that killed him in 1973. With him in charge, the situation could become dystopian very quickly.

Dr. Strangelove, I'm not sure if that's enough to fuck up things in spain to that extent. Sure that, with Carrero Blanco in charge, the transition would have been much nastier and maybe more incomplete, but a total breakup of Spain is another thing. Anyway, who knows...

Jarlaxle, as for Alfonso becoming king instead of Juan Carlos as you suggest, I honestly don't know why that should change things that way. Can you please explain me that?

Only possible way for things to end in a new civil war without a foreign invasion (kinda unlikely, to put it mildly) is for part of the military to support a coup d'etat attempt against the reforms, while the rest supports the King as legitimate head of state.

just so we're clear, how much of a breakup are we talking about? Do only Catalonia and the Basque region separate, or do Valencia, Galicia, Austurias, the Balaerics, and the Canaries take a hike also?
