Here's the challenge - alter the history of the Iberian peninsula (and france) to the point that instead of resulting in the creation expansion and eventual mergers of sovereign christian principalities like Aragon castle Navarre and Leon, any recovery of iberian territory results in a formal extension of france south of the pyrenees. In such an atl, regions of Iberia that the moors get driven out of become as "French" as any of France's otl Atlantic and Mediterranean peripheries like Brittany , aquitaine, Provence, languedoc or corsica.

Is there a plausible way to make this happen and is this likely to make a reconuista go slower or faster than otl? Might it encourage a more southerly location for the French capital? How might it change language history and great power politics in the 2nd millennium?

Not possible. I mean, sure, you could have them nominally vassals of the French crown, but it would be purely nominal.

And integrating them into France, as in culturally...France didn't even manage that within its OTL borders for centuries. By that point, the southern territories will have gone their own way.

If I recall correctly the County of Barcelona was still part of the Spanish March until a treaty made it formally independent from France (it helped that it was already in union with Aragon).
