AH Challenge: Ready For The Fatherland

Hello I am new here, I just recently joined, though I have visited this site many times before.

Any way down to business. I have read some of the works of Harry Turtledove and I have found out about several of his stories. One I haven't read, but am interested in is Ready For The Fatherland. Any information would be appreciated, now the challenge.

I find the idea of a four way cold war interesting, but would be more interesting is a collapse of one or more powers. Your challenge if you accept is to create a scenario where one or more of the Four Superpowers collapse like the Soviet Union in OTL.

Also this is my first thread/post so be nice.

German generals assasinate Hitler, take over, and manage a stalemate through their AWESOME GERMAN GENERALISM which can magically overcome such things as the massive industrial superiority of their enemies and the existence of a US atom bomb. I'm not sure it's really a 4-way cold war: the Brits appear to be an independent player, but a US-friendly one, so it's really more three-way. The actual story is underhanded dealings in Croatia, next door to restive, German-and-Croat occupied Serbia...

Well, the British empire is going to collapse (albiet in a rather different way than OTLs Soviet implosion) unless the US spends a lot of blood and treasure propping them up. Indian indpendence is pretty much a done deal as it is at the time of the POD (1942 IIRC).

I'm always nice. :D
