At Risk of Major Butterflies, any chance of Geraldine running and winning the Democratic Nomination in '88 on her own with same or mildly different results of OTL 1984 Election? Is it possible that maybe she could lick her wounds after her loss, but what things would she have to do to still stay relevant and popular with voters enough for her to clinch the nomination?
well if George H.W. Bush says something worst then "kicked a little ass" in front of that microphone, then Barbara Bush says something worst then "I can’t say it, but it rhymes with rich." every one hates the bushies so much the Ron kicks him off the ticket, every one feels bad for GF (They still lose in '84), the butterflies stop the Tex questions from coming up, GF goes on to to win the New York Senate seat in '86 then runs as a much loved under-dog in '88
I definatley like where your head is at Black Angel...So with the ATL New York Senator declaring her candidacy lets say late '87 and running as the perpetual underdog how might this effect the Race? Is it possible the Ferraro might not recieve the necessary majority of delegate totals but it is enought to crack/split Dukakis lead and put Jesse Jackson over the Top?
Well, if Ford decides not to run in 76 and let's Rockefeller take a swing at it, he may have been able to carry New York, which (assuming the country otherwise fell as it did in OTL) would give him a win.
Rockefeller is unacceptable to the base. Ford may choose not to run (though I doubt it) but Rockefeller would not have the nomination. It would be Reagan.
During the campaign financial questions were raised surrounding the release of Ferraro's husband's tax returns. In July 1984, she said she would release both her and her husband's tax returns. A month later she said she would release only her returns, then she said her husband would release "a financial — a tax statement" on August 20. But Zaccaro initially refused to do so.[15] After the election the House Ethics Committee "found that Ferraro had violated the Ethics in Government Act by failing to disclose details of her family's finances", but "concluded that she acted without 'deceptive intent'
