AH Challenge: Nine Nations of North America

Really a full-out New England - Quebec Merger would make a lot of sense, except for that pesky language difference...

The language difference shouldn't be that much of a problem - heck, if you guys want a 19th-century POD, then may I remind you that many areas of New England (such as my home state of Rhode Island and also the South Coast of Massachusetts [sharing it with the Portuguese]) had pretty decent-sized Francophone populations. Really, if you want to merge New England with Québec - well, go for it! Be bold! :D

Of course, such a state might need a different name than "New England"... :p

Very interested to see how this develops, as I'm working on a project with a lot of similarities. Except it's twelve nations (in 1980) and by 2008, has turned into 22. But even some of these countries are named similarly. I wish there was a better name than The Foundry, because it doesn't seem like something a country would actually be named. I have `Ecotopia' as Pacifica, which speaks nicely to both its geographic location and its ideals. I posit that this can be done with a mid-50s POD... but I might have to wait to finish the novel before I know for sure :)

In any case, nice work!
