AH Challenge: Nestorian Aztecs

Back when I was in Junior High, my Dad started talking about Cortez encountering Nestorians in Mexico, when he invaded.
Course I was to Young to know how unlikely this was.

But ?any Ideas on how whe can get Nestorians in Mexico pre Cortez, and what would the Conquistadors do about it?

Perhaps, as cliche it will be, an exploratory mission went off course and wound up on the coast of Mexico.
Just tossing that out there.

Chinese Nestorian missionaries is probably the likeliest route.

The conquerors would set about Latinizing their liturgy and getting them to swear allegiance to the pope (after plundering their evil heretic/schismatic gold, of course :D).
