Let me tell you of an AH trope we refer to as "Kazakh Border Syndrome". It's about taking present-day borders and projecting them into the past without taking into account how recently they were drawn. This map is a blatant example of it. Not only with the aforementioned Kazakh border, but also the Bangladeshi one (which dates from the Indian partition of 1948) and a host of others in Asian and Africa.
