AH Challenge: Make Leclerc the AH DeGaulle

In OTL, DeGaulle is often the most remembered and most celebrated French general of WWII. However, Philippe Leclerc commanded French forces in Africa and, after D-Day, in Europe, and AFAIK seen as a very good commander.

Is there a way to make Leclerc as politically and militarily successful as DeGaulle? Perhaps DeGaulle gets assassinated or is otherwise pushed out of the picture. What would WWII and post-war France look like with Leclerc the primary commander?

It will be quite difficult, after all Leclerc was a junior commander during the first part of the war (he was only a captain in june 1940).
De Gaulle had a solid experience of politics before the defeat of may-june 40, that wasn't the case of Leclerc at all.
However if Leclerc doesn't get killed in 1947, a political carreer for him is definitely possible.
He was convinced of the need to find political solutions to decolonisation conflicts (after all he negotiated with uncle Ho), and was quite popular.
His influence on the latent Algerian conflit would certainly led to interesting butterflies...
