you say that as if its a bad thing :D

keep this in mind... the landings are likely to be sucessful due to the overwhelming firepower at the decisive point but the Germans were actually able to bottle up the Normandy landings for nearly 8 weeks in a ww1 style stalemate with super heavy losses in the bocage (excellent defensive terrain)

it was hitler's mad order to send all the armor in a death ride at mortain that created the disaster at falaise and stopped the germans from being able to catch their breath until they hit the west wall

even if still under the command of kluge; if the mortain offensive hadn't been ordered he could have continued to delay in normandy as best he could and when the situation eventually became untenable he could have done an orderly retreat to each of the successive and highly defensible french river lines (seine, aise, meuse) and probably held the allies off at least another 6 months more than otl and not lost so many men and so much equipment
