AH Challenge: Islamic Scandinavia

The inevitable caliphate:D

Either a MUCH more sucessful spread of Islam covering all of Europe or some strange event like Charles XII converting during his stay in Turky.

There were some comments in an earlier thread about the possibility of a Mohammed originating in Scandinavia among the Vikings rather than in Arabia- though that could be ASB or not count as "Islamic" for the purposes of the challenge.

I did have Denmark convert to Islam in my Muslims Win at Tours TL, but that should hardly be taken as a plausible way to do anything.

Well, Vikings did trade along the Black Sea, and there was a little contact with Muslims -- there were certainly some Muslims in the areas they were exploring/trading in.

The main reason they converted to Christianity OTL, though, was so they could trade with Europe. To get them to even consider converting to Islam would require a more Eastern-focused Scandinavia, which I'm not sure is possible for Norway, and almost certainly not Denmark (can you imagine if Denmark was an Islamic state during the Northern Crusades?).

do u have the link for the TL?

also i read another TL somewhere when Vikings raid Al Andalus they find a very liberal and propseprous relgion. they take news of this strange religion to their homeland, and the raiders exaggerations make people flock to convert en masse

That's all I can say. Unfortunately, I find myself doing that after reading many of your posts.

And a strange comment to anybody not into the writings of Bo Baldersson: Svarte Orm finds it silly to belive in a dead God.
