AH Challenge: Independent Assyria

After World War I, the British and French redrew the map of the Middle East by carving out former Ottoman land into the entities we know as Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Transjordan, and the British Mandate of Palestine.

The Iraqi nation created by the map makers had a Shiite majority although the king and ruling elite were Sunni Moslems.

How would an independent and sovereign Chaldo-Assyrian state become a reality in the 1920s? The POD must occur after 1900.

It's hard, the Assyrians were the majority on such a small territory that it would have been a very small nation, that territory was split between what today is Turkey and Iraq (today there's only a substantial Assyrian population in parts of Iraq and the Swedish city of Södertälje). Also you have to butterfly away the Assyrian genocide 1920- 21, when the Kurds and Turks massacred almost all Assyrians on their side of the border.
