What the title means is that suppose that instead of creating a system of religious thought that seems nontheistic, Siddartha Gautama creates a system of Hinduism based on teaching people how to read the Vedas and interpret them for themselves. He also preaches an abolition of the caste system including freeing the priesthood from the Brahmins, and making every Hindu his own priest. He also centers worship only around the Vedic deities, not the new additions like Ganesha.
How would such a Gautamism (because he obviously wouldn't call himself the "enlightened" fare?
