Hmmmm. Should I just put this in ASB category? This might go into the area of semi-ASBism. What do you think? Maybe, you should read the challenge first.

As you can see ladies and gentlemen, I'm particularly fond of Star Wars. Hahaha. :D And of course about the Old Republic in particular. I'm just suggesting about the idea where we can put Star Wars like Old Republic history, "expansion", events and institutions in the flow of our world's history. Confused? Let me give sort of an analogy:

The only constitution OTL that I could think of using for this challenge that could sort of "withstand the currents of time" is nothing but the ancient Roman constitution. Now does this mean that the challenge is to make ancient Rome survive the coming of the steppe barbarians and then just conquer the world? Absolutely NOT! Hahaha! What I actually mean is to have the idea that there's an ever existing republic since 509 BC that just changes faces, constitutional structures and power centers; that is from a constitution governing a city state into a constitution establishing a degree of a stable international order just like OTL United Nations system, albeit how imperfect it is in doing its stated mission. The way it could be visualize is the idea how the ancient Roman Senate can have continuity to transform into a United Nations General Assembly. It is like how ancient Rome did not survive the barbarians but 'The Republic and the Constitution' survived in Constantinople. Then how Constantinople did not survive the Ottomans but again 'The Republic and Constitution' survived in Venice. Then the Republic left Venice in favor of Amsterdam and the Dutch Republic, then again left in favor of London and the crowned republicanism that the British introduced. Finally, it left London in favor of the nascent American confederation. Then when the Americans came into the world stage in 1945, the institutions of the Republic entered as a UN/EU like entity. Yes, the Constitution now covers the entire world, but the Republic is not governing as a world government, and especially this is not a Roman Republic continuing to exist until 2012 AD. It's just that the Republic going as far as its Roman creators continues to exist in many faces and different structures. If there's one institution that I expect to "exist" for 2,000 years, it is just 'The Senate' but the Senate of 2012 is of course not the same as the Senate of 1 AD, even in its looks.

It's actually confusing probably if you're going to think about this.

Wait, who's going to be the Jedi Knights? Basically, this real time warrior order's change of allegiances will provide the idea of how the Republic goes from one power center to another, until it became an international organization itself guaranteeing world peace. And the Senate's continuity comes from the Senate's majority of members of such time period of history was forced to leave the place it was currently in, forcing the Senate of the place to be gone due to circumstances and go to another place and was just assimilated there as still the nominal prestigious 'Senate' coming from its ancient Roman days but now with different functions depending on the situation. Or in case of becoming an international body of discussion of world issues; because let's say the office of long existing centuries old position of princeps senatus was abolished in the United States analogue and transformed into the Senate of the United Nations analogue. Or in whatever ways you can come up.

Yeah, I'm talking about 2,000 years of history here; but with the usual sort of familiar flow of shifts of power from Europe to the English speakers of North America, if that could happen.

And yes, it would be great if we can put analogues of Old Republic history events in our real time history too; so, who's gonna be the Sith? :p

I'm not talking here of the Force existing and such ok. That's why this is not in the ASB section.

I might do a timeline about this. But this is your challenge for now. Let's see your ideas about this.

Just in case you're all interested. :)
