AH challenge: fascist/socialist Britain.

Despite the forum I placed it in, pre-1900 PODs are also allowed. Your goal is to make Great Britain a police state by 1950. This dictatorship may be a Socialist, Fascist or National-Socialist regime or something similar. Butterflies may cause changes in names of these political ideologies. If you can get Great Britain to become a totalitarian regime before 1940 you get bonus points. Extra bonus points if the Nazis still come to power in Germany or if Germany is communist.

Since when is Socialism a police state?

Topic derailed by the first response. Is that a record?

I don't think he's saying a socialist state is necessarily a police state, but rather that the challenge is to create Britain a police state. The details of the political ideology are irrelevant, it can be socialist, fascist, Nazi, or anything else. After all, socialist police states HAVE existed before, but that doesn't mean all socialist states are police states.

Yes that's what I meant. Now, create a totalitarian Britain. Go!

How about a defeat in the first world war, say that the March 1918 German offesives work, and the British and driven back into the see.
A Communist revolution breaks out....
(Don't forget there was a attempt in Glasgow, Scotland at a Communist revolution).

There was also the General Strike ; but transplanting an October Revolution to England will be difficult because the monarch (Prince Eddy? Married to Alexandra von Hesse? With Mr. Crowley in place of Rasputin?) simply doesn't have the power to ruin things that Tsar Nicholas had. And the poorest British citizens were way better off than the Russian serfs.
