AH Challenge: Divided Anatolia

A map I made recently, one where Anatolia is divided between an Ottoman west and a Karaman east, got me thinking, how could this happen?

Your challenge, should you accept it, is to have Anatolia divided in such a way. The Ottomans rule Western Anatolia, the Balkans and the Black Sea coast. The Karamans rule Eastern Anatolia along with the Middle East and Egypt. How can this come about?

The POD is up to you.

Here is the map I was talking about.

Lets see a few possible ways I think,

One being a predominatly Greek Eastern and a Turkish Western, maybe the turkish tribes do rise up in the Phyrgian western portion of the Anatolia but do not unify enough to conquer all of the Byzantines?

1402 - the Ottoman Civil War...in OTL, the Karaman dynasty was backed by Timur Lenk (who was nearly offered an alliance/assistance by Aragon)........so maybe in this ATL, Aragon sticks with the Karamans even when Timur dies (why? in the hopes of converting the royal Karaman family? or just as a weapon against the Ottomans?)
